The Wildebeest is built on a rigid, lightweight aluminium frame that transfers power efficiently for easier pushing. Fat rear tyres handle the mixed terrain found in real communities, including rooted, muddy, rocky and stair-heavy ground, while front castors run on larger, highly durable bearings for years of smooth rolling. The frame is expected to last ten years, and its wide adjustment range means fewer SKUs to stock while still serving a broader population.
The walkthrough covers folding the backrest and removing the quick-release rear wheels for transport, then footrest height, depth and angle, with an optional riser giving a total range of 140 to 380 mm. Dave shows backrest height and angle adjustment, and explains how the velcro tension-adjustable backrest gives better control of the pelvis and accommodates the natural curves of the spine. He then demonstrates repositioning the rear axle to maximise pushing power and stability, and adjusting seat height for optimal arm and shoulder position, with a reminder that the caster barrels must stay vertical.
