The Clinical Challenge: Severe Mobility Limits in a Remote Environment

Cole lives with his mother, Brenda, in Tahsis, a remote coastal community in British Columbia defined by rocky, uneven ground , trails, meadows, and shorelines rather than paved sidewalks. His standard government-funded everyday wheelchair, built for smooth surfaces, could not keep up with the outdoor life Cole and his family wanted to live, limiting his access to the landscape he clearly loves.

The Intervention: Cub with All-Terrain Integration

Cole's Cub wheelchair was fitted with an all-terrain front wheel accessory, alongside a All Terrain wheel and a full set of positioning support devices to manage his mixed, strong tone pattern. A tray was also added for stability and activity support. Setup to achieve proper alignment took approximately two hours.
